Lavender
Lavender is a perennial sub-tree of the Lamiaceae family that originates in the western Mediterranean basin. High from 40 to 80 cm, this sub-tree has erect, unbranched branches and a single, quadrangular stem. The lavender fruits are tetrakenes and its leaves are greyish in colour. Between mid-June and mid-July, lavender shows very characteristic blue flowers. A true treat for eyes and smell, these flowers have long been used for their very aromatic characters. They were already used to perfume the baths during Ancient Rome. We find this sub-arbrisseau in abundance, especially along the limestone slopes of the southern mountains, at an altitude of nearly 1500 m.
